One False Move
One False Move ★★★ 1991 (R)
Black psycho Pluto, his white-trash partner Ray, and Ray's biracial lover Fantasia are three low-level drug dealers on the streets of Los Angeles who get involved in murder. Fleeing the city for Fantasia's small hometown in Arkansas, they come up against the local sheriff and two L.A. cops sent to bring them back. Not a typical crime thriller, first-time feature director Franklin is more interested in a psychological character study of racism and small-town mores than in your average shoot ‘em up action picture. Good performances, especially by Williams as the deceptive bad girl. 105m/C VHS, DVD .
