The Shot
The Shot ★★½ 1996
Shot in 14 days for $40,000 (and sometimes showing it), this independent release follows outofwork actors Dern Reel (Bell) and Patrick St. Patrick (Rivkin) as they try to break into the movie business. The foil for the two sensitive artisttypes is the shallow but successful director David Egoman. Offended by his brainless action movies, the duo decide to “kidnap” the only print of his latest epic. Although production values are low and the sound is a bit dicey, indie fans will probably like this depiction of Hollywood's shady side. Gained some publicity when ten reels of Kevin Spacey's “Albino Alligator” were swiped from an airport baggage claim shortly after its release. 84m/C VHS . Dan Bell, Michael Rivkin, Mo Gaffney, Michael DeLuise, Vincent Ward, Jack Kehler, Theodore (Ted) Raimi, Jude Horowitz; Cameos: Dana Carvey; D: Dan Bell; W: Dan Bell; C: Alan Caudillo; M: Dan Sonis.
