The Terminal ★★ 2004 (PG-13)

Viktor Navorski (Hanks), traveling to New York, must stay in the airport's international zone because his home country has fallen into civil war and technically no longer exists. With plucky resolve Navorski creates a makeshift life for himself while winning allies among the terminal's work-force. Central players are good: Tucci as cruel airport overseer; Zeta-Jones as love interest; and Hanks always appealing as the confused but intrepid traveler. Often clever, but basically cotton candy: sweet, but way too fluffy. Based on the true story of an Iranian immigrant who got stuck in Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. 128m/C VHS, DVD . US Tom Hanks, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Stanley Tucci, Chi McBride, Diego Luna, Barry (Shabaka) Henley, Zoe Saldana, Eddie Jones, Michael Nouri, Kumar Pallana, Jude Ciccolella, Corey Reynolds, Guillermo Diaz, Rini Bell, Stephen Mendel, Valery (Valeri Nikolayev) Nikolaev; D: Steven Spielberg; W: Andrew Niccol, Jeff Nathanson, Sacha Gervasi; C: Janusz Kaminski; M: John Williams.
