Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story ★½ 2007 (R)
Yet another double entendre smut-fest from screenwriter Apatow (and director/writer Kasdan), who mock every music bio cliche they can twang a guitar at. Reilly goes silly for his title role as a white boy singer (with a family tragedy that haunts him) who gets that devil rock ‘n' roll in his soul and finds it leads to drugs and debauchery, if not the love of a woman (Fisher) too good for him. Much like a novelty record it's clever for a moment but repeated exposure may cause brain damage. 96m/C DVD . US John C. Reilly, Jenna Fischer, Raymond J. Barry, Kristen Wiig, Tim Meadows, Harold Ramis, Margo Martindale, Chris Parnell, Matt Besser, David Krumholtz, Frankie Muniz, Jack White, Justin Long, Paul Rudd, Jason Schwartzman; D: Jake Kasdan; W: Jake Kasdan, Judd Apatow; C: Uta Briesewitz; M: Michael Andrews.
