The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm
The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm ★★½ 1962
Bigbudget fantasy based very loosely on the Grimm Brothers' lives and three of their stories: “The Dancing Princesses,” “The Cobbler and the Elves,” and “The Singing Bone.” Good, fun Puppetoon scenes, but leaves much else to be desired. A mega-watt cast and the ubiquitous hand of producer-director Pal are not enough to cover the flaws. The biographical parts are hokey, and the tales used are the wrong ones. Disappointing but historically interesting. The second-ever story film done in Cinerama. ♫The Theme From the Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm; Gypsy Rhapsody; Christmas Land; Ah-Oom; Above the Stars; Dee-Are-A-Gee-O-En (Dragon). 134m/C VHS .
