Ahronovich, Yuri (Mikhailovich)
Ahronovich, Yuri (Mikhailovich), Russian-born Israeli conductor; b. Leningrad, May 13, 1932. He studied with Sanderling and Rachlin at the Leningrad Cons, (graduated, 1954). After serving as music director of the Saratov Phil. (1956–57) and the Yaroslavl Sym. Orch. (1957–64), he was chief conductor of the Moscow Radio Sym. Orch. (1964–72). He then emigrated to Israel and became a naturalized citizen. He was music director of the Gürzenich Orch. in Cologne (1975–86) and chief conductor of the Stockholm Phil. (1982–87).
