Anacker, August Ferdinand
Anacker, August Ferdinand, German composer; b. Freiberg, Saxony, Oct. 17, 1790; d. there, Aug. 21, 1854. He was educated at the Univ. of Leipzig. In 1821 he became cantor in Freiberg, and also founded that city’s Singakademie in 1823. His oratorio, Bergmannsgruss (1831–32), was widely performed in his lifetime.
