Anrooy (actually, Anrooij), Peter van
Anrooy (actually, Anrooij), Peter van, Dutch conductor and composer; b. Zalt-Bommel, Oct. 13, 1879; d. The Hague, Dec. 31, 1954. He studied with Wagenaar in Utrecht, and with Kes and Taneyev in Moscow. After conducting in Groningen (1905) and Arnhem (1910), he was music director of the Residentie Orch. in The Hague from 1917 to 1935. Among his works were Piet Hein for Orch. (1901), a Ballade for Violin and Orch. (1902), and chamber music.
