Ayleward, Richard
Ayleward, Richard, English organist and composer; b. Winchester, 1626; d. Norwich, Oct. 15, 1669. He was a chorister under C. Gibbons at Winchester Cathedral (1638–39). He was organist and master of the choristers at Norwich Cathedral (1661-64; 1666-69). His works include a full Service in D, 2 verse settings of the Magnificat and Nunc dimittis, 20 verse anthems, and virginal, lute, and harpsichord pieces.
