Blake, Howard (b London, 1938). Eng. composer. Worked in London 1960–70 as pianist, orchestrator, cond., and comp. Enjoyed immense success with mus. for children's TV film The Snowman. OBE 1994. (1984); The Conquest of Space (1988); pf. conc. (1990); vn. conc. (1992–3). Also many choral and vocal works; chamber music; piano pieces; and incid. mus. for theatre, TV, and films incl.
