Cara, Marchetto
Cara, Marchetto, Italian singer, lutenist, and composer; b. probably in Verona, c. 1470; d. Mantua, c. 1525. By 1494 he was in the service of the court in Manta, where he was made maestro di cappella in 1511; he also was active in other Italian cities. He was a leading composer of frottolas, of which 85 such works are extant. Among his other works are a Salve regina for three Voices, seven laudi, and various madrigals.
