Cohen, Isidore (Leonard)
Cohen, Isidore (Leonard), American violinist and teacher; b. N.Y., Dec. 16, 1922. He studied violin with Galamian and chamber music with Salmond and Letz at the Juilliard School of Music in N.Y. (B.S., 1948). After playing in the Schneider (1952–55) and Juilliard (1958–66) quartets, he was a member of the Beaux Arts Trio (1968–93), with which he toured internationally; he also appeared as a soloist with orchs. and as a recitalist. He taught at the Marlboro (Vt.) Music School (from 1957), at the Juilliard School of Music (1957–65), and at the Mannes Coll. of Music in N.Y. (1970–88).
