De Vito, Gioconda (b Martina Franca, Lecce, 1907; d Rome, 1994). Eng. violinist of It. birth. Won international comp. Vienna 1932. Prof. of vn., Accademia di S. Cecilia, Rome. Visited London 1947 to make records. Public début 1948 (LPO). Specialist in standard repertory, notably Brahms concerto. Taught at Bari Cons. Retired 1961.
