Demougeot, (Jeanne Marguerite) Marcelle (Decorne) , remarkable French soprano; b. Dijon, June 18, 1871; d. Paris, Nov. 24,1931. She studied in Dijon and Paris. She made her opératic debut at the Paris Opéra in 1902 as Donna Elvira; continued to sing there until 1925. She was one of the foremost French Wagnerian sopranos of her time, noted for her fine renditions as Brunnhilde, Elisabeth, Kundry, and Venus.
