Dijk, Jan van
Dijk, Jan van, Dutch pianist, teacher, and composer; b. Oostzaan, June 4, 1918. He studied composition with Pijper in Rotterdam (1936–46). He taught at the Brabant Cons, in Tilburg from its founding in 1955, and at the Royal Cons, of Music in The Hague from 1961. A prolific composer, he wrote hundreds of works. He also produced music in the 31-tone system devised by the Dutch physicist Adriaan Fokker.
