Doppler, Karl (Károly)
Doppler, Karl (Károly), Austrian flutist, composer, and conductor, brother of (Albert) Franz (Ferenc) Doppler; b. Lemberg, Sept. 12,1825; d. Stuttgart, March 10, 1900. Like his father and his brother, he became an excellent flute player and gave concerts in all the major cities of Europe. He was then appointed as court Kapellmeister in Stuttgart, and held this position for 33 years (1865–98). He wrote an opera, A grdndtos tabor (The Grenadier Camp; Pest, 1853), and pieces for the flute.
