Duval, Denise (b Paris, 1921). Fr. soprano. Début Bordeaux 1943 (Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana), then member of Folies Bergères. Début Opéra-Comique, Paris, 1947 as Butterfly. Created Thérèse in Les mamelles de Tirésias (1947), and sang Blanche in Paris première of Les Dialogues des Carmélites (1957). Created Elle in La Voix humaine (Paris 1959) and sang role at Edinburgh Fest. 1960. Sang Mélisande, Glyndebourne 1962. Retired 1965 and taught at École Française de Mus., Paris.
