Eichner, Ernst (Dieterich Adolph)

Eichner, Ernst (Dieterich Adolph), German bassoonist and composer; b. Arolsen, Hesse (baptized), Feb. 15, 1740; d. Potsdam, 1777. He joined the orch. of Duke Christian IV of Pfalz-Zeibrucken in 1762, serving as its concertmaster (1769–72). He also made tours as a concert artist from 1767, visiting Paris in 1770 and London in 1773. He then was in the service of the Prussian court.
