Fano, (Aronne) Guide Alberto
Fano, (Aronne) Guide Alberto, Italian composer, teacher, and writer on music; b. Padua, May 18, 1875; d. Tauriano di Spilimbergo, Friuli, Aug. 14, 1961. He was a pupil of Orefice and Pollini in Padua, then of Martucci at the Bologna Liceo Musicale (composition diploma, 1897); received a law degree from the Univ. of Bologna (1901). He taught piano at the Bologna Liceo Musicale (1900–1905), and then was director of the conservatories in Parma (1905–12), Naples (1912–16), and Palermo (1916–22);. He subsequently taught piano at the Milan Cons. (1922–38; 1945–7).
