Ferroud, Pierre-Octave
Ferroud, Pierre-Octave, French composer and music critic; b. Chasselay, near Lyons, Jan. 6, 1900; d. in an automobile accident near Debrecen, Hungary, Aug. 17, 1936. He studied harmony with Commette in Lyons and attended the Univ. there, and then pursued his training with Ropartz in Strasbourg (1920–22) and Schmitt in Lyons. In 1923 he settled in Paris as a composer and music critic. His output was influenced by Schmitt and Bartók. He publ. Autour de Florent Schmitt (Paris, 1927).
