Freisslich, Johann Balthasar Christian
Freisslich, Johann Balthasar Christian, German composer; b. Immelborn, near Bad Salzungen (baptized), March 30, 1687; d. Danzig, 1764. He was director of the Hofkapelle in Sondershausen in 1719–20. Upon the detah of his half-brother, the composer Maximilian Dietrich Freisslich (b. Immelborn [baptized], Feb. 6, 1673; d. Danzig, April 10, 1731), he succeeded him as Kapellmeister at St. Mary’s in Danzig, which position he retained for the rest of his life. His vast output included Passions, cantatas, and choruses.
