Gadski, Johanna (b Anklam, Prussia, 1872; d in car accident, Berlin, 1932). Ger. soprano. Début Kroll Oper, Berlin, 1889 in Lortzing's Undine, remaining for 5 years. Amer. début 1895 with Damrosch Opera Co. at NY Met. Sang Wagner roles with this co. for three seasons. CG début 1898; sang Eva at Bayreuth 1899; NY Met début as member of the co. 1900, singing there until 1917, her roles incl. Brünnhilde and Isolde, and Verdi's Aida, Amelia, and Leonora. From 1929 sang in Wagnerian co. which toured USA.
