Gemshorn (Ger.). chamois horn.
1. Obsolete medieval type of fl. with sharply-tapering conical bore, made from animal horn (cow, ox, or goat, rather than chamois). Disappeared from use in mid-16th cent.

2. Light-toned organ stop with conical pipes, usually 4′ length and pitch.
