Gianneo, Luis
Gianneo, Luis, Argentine composer, conductor, and teacher; b. Buenos Aires, Jan. 9, 1897; d. there, Aug. 15, 1968. He studied harmony with Gaito and counter-point and composition with Fornarini. From 1923 to 1943 he taught at the Inst. Musical in Tucuman, and then was a prof. of music at various schools in Buenos Aires. He was especially interested in the problems of musical education of the very young; in 1945 he organized and conducted the Orquesta Sinfonica Juvenil Argentina. From 1955 to 1960 he was director of the Buenos Aires Cons.
