Guerrini, Guido
Guerrini, Guido, Italian composer and pedagogue; b. Faenza, Sept. 12, 1890; d. Rome, June 13, 1965. He studied with Torchi and Busoni at the Bologna Liceo Musicale. After teaching on its faculty (1920-24), he taught at the Parma Cons. (1925-28); he then was director of the Florence Cons. (1928-47), the Bologna Cons. (1947-49), and the Cons, di Santa Cecilia in Rome (1950-60). In addition to books on harmony and orchestration, he publ. Ferrucio Busoni: La vita, lafigura e Vopera (Florence, 1941) and Antonio Vivaldi: La vita e Vopera (Florence, 1951). He was especially effective in composing orch., sacred, and chamber pieces.
