Harasowski, Adam
Harasowski, Adam, Polish pianist and writer on music; b. Delatyn, Sept. 16, 1904. He was brought up in a musical family. He studied at the Lwow Cons, with Adam Soltys (1923–29), and also took private lessons in composition with Szymanowski during his frequent visits at Lwow. Concurrently he studied mechanical engineering, graduating from the Lwow Polytechnic in 1931, and subsequently earned his living mainly as an engineering draftsman. At the outbreak of World War II, he went to England with the Polish Air Force, and remained with the Royal Air Force of Great Britain as a flight lieutenant (1943–58). He then devoted himself to journalism, both in Polish and in English. He publ. The Skein of Legends around Chopin (Glasgow, 1967) and also compiled collections of Polish songs.
