Hesse, Ludwig Christian
Hesse, Ludwig Christian, German viola da gambist and composer, son ofErnst Christian Hesse; b. Darmstadt, Nov. 8, 1716; d. there, Sept. 15, 1772. After music training with his father, he went to Halle as a law student. He served as a lawyer and chamber musician at the Darmstadt court (1738–41), and then was in the service of the Royal Chapel in Berlin. In 1766 he was made a chamber musician and legal advisor to the Prince of Prussia. His compositions were lost during World War II.
