Homs (Oller), Joaquin
Homs (Oller), Joaquin, Catalan composer; b. Barcelona, Aug. 22, 1906. He studied cello and later took lessons in theory with Roberto Gerhard (1931–37). He formed a constructivist style with thematic contents derived from Catalan melos.

7 string quartets (1938–68); Duo for Flute and Clarinet (1936); Wind Quintet (1940); Concertino for Piano and Strings (1946); Sextet (1959); String Trio (1968); Impromptu for 10 (1970).
