Howell, Dorothy
Howell, Dorothy, English pianist and composer; b. Handsworth, Feb. 25, 1898; d. London, Jan. 12, 1982. She studied composition with McEwen and piano with Matthay at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where from 1924 to 1970 she taught music theory. Among her works are a ballet, Koong Shee, a symphonic poem, Lamia, a Piano Concerto (1923), and chamber music.
