Jonas, Émile
Jonas, Émile, French composer; b. Paris, March 5, 1827; d. St.-Germain-en-Laye, May 21, 1905. He studied at the Paris Cons. (1841–49), graduating with the Second Grand Prix de Rome for his cantata Antonio. He was an instructor there (1847–66), and also music director at the Portuguese Synagogue, for which he publ. Receuil de chants hébraïques (1854).
