Ketting, Otto

Ketting, Otto, Dutch composer, son of Piet Ketting; b. Amsterdam, Sept. 3, 1935. He studied composition at the Royal Cons, of Music at The Hague (1952–58). After teaching at the Rotterdam Cons. (1967–71) and the Royal Cons, of Music at The Hague (1971–74), he concentrated upon composition. In 1958 he received the Gaudeamus Composition Prize and in 1973 the Kees van Baaren Prize. He received 2nd prize in the UNESCO Rostrum of Composers and was awarded the Matthijs Vermuelen Prize in 1978. In 1992 he received the Barlow Prize of the U.S.
