Klobucar, Berislav
Klobucar, Berislav, Yugoslav conductor; b. Zagreb, Aug. 28, 1924. He was educated at the Zagreb Academy of Music, and studied conducting with Lovro von Matacic and Clemens Krauss. He was conductor at the Zagreb National Theater (1941–51). In 1953 he appeared at the Vienna State Opera, where he became a regular conductor. He was chief conductor of the Graz Phil, and Opera (1961–72). After serving as principal conductor at Stockholm’s Royal Theater (1972–81), he was music director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice (1982–88). He also appeared as a guest conductor with the major European and U.S. opera houses.
