Krummacher, Friedhelm (Gustav-Adolf Hugo Robert)
Krummacher, Friedhelm (Gustav-Adolf Hugo Robert), German musicologist; b. Berlin, Jan. 22, 1936. He studied musicology and philosophy in Berlin, Marburg, and Uppsala before completing his education at the univs. of Berlin (Ph.D., 1964) and Erlangen-Nuremberg (Habilitation, 1972). In 1975 he became a prof, at the Detmold Hochschule für Musik. He was a prof, at the Christian-Albrechts-Univ. in Kiel from 1976. From 1980 to 1986 he was vice- president of the Gesellschaft für Musikforschung. He served as chairman of the new Brahms Gesamtausgabe from 1983. In addition to his articles in various series and journals, he publ. the studies Mendelssohn—der Komponist: Studien zur Kammermusik für Streicher (Munich, 1978) and Mahlers III. Symphonie (Kassel, 1991).
