Kwella, Patrizia
Kwella, Patrizia, English soprano; b. Mansfield, April 26, 1953. She received vocal training at the Royal Coll. of Music in London. Following her debut at the London Promenade Concerts in 1979, she sang in Alde-burgh, Bath, Edinburgh, Bologna, Warsaw, Salzburg, and other European music centers. In 1983 she made her U.S. debut with the San Diego Sym. Orch., and subse-quently appeared with other major U.S. orchs. In 1985 she was engaged to sing for various Bach, Handel, and Scarlatti tercentenary concerts. That same year, she appeared in the premiere of Colin Matthews’s Night’s Mask at the Aldeburgh Festival. Her operatic repertoire includes roles by Monteverdi and Handel, and her concert repertoire ranges from Bach to Britten.
