Le Rochois, Marthe
Le Rochois, Marthe, French soprano and teacher; b. Caen, c. 1658; d. Paris, Oct. 9, 1728. She was a principal member of the Paris Opéra from 1678 to 1698, and then devoted herself to teaching. She gained distinction for her appearances in Lully’s operas, creating major roles in his Proserpine (1680), Versée (1682), Amadis (1684), Roland (1685), and Armide (1686).
