Ledenev, Roman (Semyonovich)
Ledenev, Roman (Semyonovich), Russian composer; b. Moscow, Dec. 4, 1930. He studied composition at the Moscow Cons, with Rakov and Anatoly Alexandrov, and later was an instructor there. His music is marked by a typically Russian lyric quality touched with permissible dissonances in harmonic treatment. He composed an oratorio, The Chronicle of the Campaign of Igor (1954), The Song of Freedom for Chorus, after Asian and African poets (1961), Violin Concerto (1964), Viola Concerto (1964), Sonata in memory of Prokofiev (1956), and numerous songs.
