Libon, Philippe
Libon, Philippe, French violinist and composer; b. Cadiz (of French parents), Aug. 17,1775; d. Paris, Feb. 5, 1838. He was a student of Viotti in London, with whom he appeared in concerts there, and then of Cimador. He subsequently served as court violinist in Lisbon (1796–98), Madrid (1798–1800), and Paris (from 1800). He publ. 6 violin concertos, 6 string trios, duets, 2 vols, of Airs variés, and 30 caprices for Violin.
