Licad, Cecile
Licad, Cecile, Filipino pianist; b. Manila, May 11, 1961. She studied piano with Rosario Picazo, and made her public concert debut at the age of 7. She then went to the U.S., and enrolled at the Curtis Inst. of Music in Philadelphia in the classes of Rudolf Serkin, Seymour Lipkin, and Mieczyslaw Horszowski. In 1979 she was soloist with the Boston Sym. Orch. at the Berkshire Music Center in Tanglewood, and in 1981 she won the Leventritt Gold Medal, which launched her on a fine career. She subsequently appeared with major orchs. on both sides of the Atlantic. She married António Meneses.
