LOiseau Lyre
L'Oiseau Lyre (Lyrebird Press). Fr. firm of mus. publishers, founded in Paris 1932 by Louise Dyer, an Australian, who built up a catalogue of limited edns., incl. Byzantine liturgical mus., medieval polyphonic mus., motets by Attaignant, kbd. works by Byrd, complete edn. of Couperin, etc. Dyer worked in Oxford 1940–5, returning to Paris after the war. She died 1962, when her husband, Jeffrey Hanson, ran firm until 1971. His widow Margarita Hanson then added further vols. Headquarters moved to Les Remparts, Monaco. Recordings issued since c.1938, label now being part of Decca (Polygram) group.
