Loosemore, Henry
Loosemore, Henry, English organist and composer; b. probably in Devon, date unknown; d. 1670. He was organist at King’s Coll., Cambridge (1627–70), where he took his Mus.B. in 1640. He also was active in the private music gatherings at the North family home in Kirtling. Among his works were service music and anthems. His brother, George Loosemore (b. Devon, date unknown; d. Cambridge, 1682), was also an organist and composer. He was organist at Jesus Coll., Cambridge (1635) and at Trinity Coll., Cambridge (1660–82), and took the Cambridge Mus.D. in 1665. He composed sacred music.
