Lubotsky, Mark (Davidovich)
Lubotsky, Mark (Davidovich), Russian violinist and teacher; b. Leningrad, May 18,1931. He was a pupil of Yampolsky and Oistrakh at the Moscow Cons., where he made his debut as soloist in the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto (1950). He then performed throughout the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. After making his British debut as soloist in Britten’s Violin Concerto at the London Promenade Concerts (1970), he toured internationally. From 1967 to 1976 he taught at the Gnessin Inst. in Moscow. He became a prof. at the Sweelinck Cons, in Amsterdam in 1976. In 1986 he was made a prof. at the Hamburg Hochschule für Musik. His repertoire encompasses a vast range of works, from the Baroque to the most modern scores.
