Middleton, Hubert Stanley
Middleton, Hubert Stanley, English organist, teacher, and composer; b. Windsor, May 11, 1890; d. London, Aug. 13, 1959. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at the Univ. of Cambridge (M.A., 1920). He was appointed organist and director of music at Trinity Coll., Cambridge, in 1931, and also taught at the Royal Academy of Music in London. His specialty was cathedral music. He composed a number of anthems and organ pieces. He was greatly esteemed as an educator, and his teaching methods exercised profound influence on his students, many of whom became educators in their own right.
