Mikhailovich, Maxim (Dormidontovich)
Mikhailovich, Maxim (Dormidontovich),Russian bass; b. Koltsovka, near Kazan, Aug. 25, 1893; d. Moscow, March 30, 1971. He studied in Kazan with Oshustovich and in Moscow with Osipov. After appearing as a soloist with Moscow’s Ail-Union Radio (1930–32), he sang with Moscow’s Bolshoi Theater (from 1932). He was admired for his many portrayals in Russian operas. In 1940 he was made a People’s Artist of the U.S.S.R.
