Negri, Gino, Italian composer; b. Milan, May 25, 1919; d. Cernusco Montevecchia, July 19, 1991. He studied at the Milan Cons, with Renzo Bossi and Paribeni, graduating in 1942. In 1959 he was appointed artistic director of the Teatro del Popolo in Milan. He wrote a number of light operas, all to his own librettos, among them Vieni qui, Carla (Milan, Feb. 28, 1956), Massimo (Milan, April 12, 1958), II té delle tre (Corno, Sept. 12, 1958), IICirco Max (Venice, Sept. 23, 1959), and Publicita, ninfa gentile (Milan, 1970).
