Orlandini, Giuseppe Maria

Orlandini, Giuseppe Maria, prominent Italian composer; b. Florence, March 19, 1675; d. there, Oct. 24, 1760. He most likely received his musical training in Florence. He served as maestro di cappella at the court of Tuscany during most of his career, and also held that position in Florence at the Cathedral (1732–60) and at S. Michele (1734–57). His Serpilla e Bacocco was one of the most celebrated stage works of the 18th century.
