Paribeni, Giulio Cesare
Paribeni, Giulio Cesare, Italian music critic, teacher, and composer; b. Rome, May 27, 1881; d. Milan, June 13, 1960. He studied at the Univ. of Rome and at the Liceo di S. Cecilia of Rome. He was first a conductor, then, from 1911 to 1915, head of the publishing firm of Sonzogno; from 1914, was a teacher of composition and harmony at the Royal Cons. in Milan; from 1922, an opera critic of L’Ambrosiano in Milan. He was the author of Storia e teoria della antica musica greca (Milan, 1912) and Muzio Clementi (Milan, 1921). Among his compositions were orch. works, chamber pieces, and church music.
