Pasero, Tancredi
Pasero, Tancredi , noted Italian bass; b. Turin, Jan. 11,1893; d. Milan, Feb. 17,1983. He studied in Turin. He made his operatic debut in 1917 as Rodolfo in La Sonnambula in Vicenza. From 1924 to 1930 he sang at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, and in 1926 he joined La Scala in Milan, remaining on its roster until 1952. He made his Metropolitan Opera debut in N.Y on Nov. 1, 1929, as Al vise in La Gioconda; continued on its roster until 1933. He also had guest engagements at London’s Covent Garden (1931) and the Paris Opéra (1935). His repertoire was extensive and included Italian, German, French, and Russian operas; he excelled in Verdi’s operas, and made a distinctive appearance as Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov.
