Pepöck, August

Pepöck, August, Austrian composer; b. Gmunden, May 10, 1887; d. there, Sept. 5, 1967. He studied in Vienna with Heuberger and R. Fuchs. He was active as a conductor of theater music in various provincial towns in Germany; subsequently lived mostly in Vienna. He scored great success with his operettas Mädel ade! (Vienna, Oct. 5, 1930) and Der Reiter de Kaiserin (Vienna, April 30, 1941). He also wrote some chamber music and songs.
