Petrov, Andrei (Pavlovich)

Petrov, Andrei (Pavlovich),Russian composer; b. Leningrad, Sept. 2, 1930. He studied composition at the Leningrad Cons, with Evlakhov, graduating in 1954. In 1957 he joined the Communist party. In his music he follows the general precepts of socialist realism, ethnic in thematic material, euphonious in harmony, energetic in rhythm, stimulating in modalities, optimistic in contemporary philosophy, and realistic in treatment.
