Petzold, Rudolf

Petzold, Rudolf, German composer and teacher; b. Liverpool (of a German father and English mother), July 17, 1908; d. Michaelshoven, Nov. 17, 1991. He was a pupil of Jarnach at the Cologne Hochschule für Musik (1930–33), where he taught (1937–38). After teaching at the Frankfurt am Main Hochschule für Musik (1941–42), he again taught at the Cologne Hochschule für Musik (1946–70), where he also was its deputy director (1960–69).
